Is the Jukari Workout for you?

Jukari is now the buzz word for many fitness enthusiasts who are trying to get into shape with the combined help of Cirque du Soleil and Reebok. The first installment of this innovative workout program is dubbed “Jukari Fit to Fly.”

According to Reebok and Cirque du Soleil, the Jukari Fit to Fly is an effective one-hour workout that makes your feel like your flying while combining a cardiovascular component, strength training, balance exercises and core training. It uses a Jukari FlySet which is a three-stranded rope with two attachment loops, and a FlyBar.

Some of the Jukari Fit to Fly workout moves include: the Hanging Carousel to Straddle which is designed to work the abductor muscles (i.e., the butt), lats (i.e., upper back) and abdominal muscles; the Mixed Grip Pull-Up with Kick for the biceps, lats (i.e., upper back) and core muscles (i.e., belly, mid and lower back); and the Mountain Climber to Pike which is to work the chest, triceps and shoulders as well as strengthen the core (i.e., belly, mid and lower back).

A number of those who have tried the Jukari workout and those who are promoting this fitness program had made claims that this exercise program fits all those who want to keep their body in shape and have fun.

However, several doctors and fitness gurus are reserving their comments on this new exercise program. For them, it is still too early to tell whether the Jukari Fit to Fly actually works and on the extent of its effectiveness. They pointed out that Jukari Fit to Fly classes just kicked-off worldwide just last March 2009 and there is still no independent study conduct on it yet. Even About.com’s Guide to Exercise writer Paige Waehner admitted that the Jukari Fit to Fly look fun but is not sure about its workout potential.

Fitness gurus said several factors must be considered before deciding to take on the Jukari Fit to Fly workout. According to them, these factors may range from the person’s lifestyle, health problems, discipline, diet and even down to the bank account.

To determine whether the Jukari workout, specifically the first installment, Jukari Fit to Fly, is for you, it is best that you read about it and even consult your health and fitness specialist before trying it.
